CDTL in a great power! Large aircraft ground dynamics test platform launched

On the morning of September 21, the large aircraft ground dynamics test platform,which was involved in part of the designed by CDTL (Hangzhou Contemporary Drive Technology Co.,LTD.) was successfully launched in Changsha.
CDTL provides multi-axis distributed drive, brake-by-wire and steering-by-wire for the large aircraft ground dynamics test platform. It is the core execution component of the chassis that realizes drive, steering and braking on the entire dynamics test platform.
On the same day, Wu Guiying, member of the Standing Committee of the Hunan Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Changsha Municipal Party Committee. He Dongfeng, Chairman and Party Secretary of Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd. (COMAC). Chen Fei, Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress.Wu Guanghui, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Chief Scientist of COMAC . Huang Boyun,Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, general consultant and person in charge of the test platform. Chai Liyuan, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of Central South University, and vice president, attended the event to witness the test.

This test is to obtain basic data of aircraft ground load and related dynamic characteristics under real taxi surface and specified speed conditions. The test results are of great significance for conducting ground dynamics model verification and studying key braking/turning technologies. The data will support the development of China civil aircraft models. The experiment was a complete success.

It is reported that the Hunan Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government attach great importance to the test platform and have identified it as one of the four major scientific installations in the province’s “4+4” science and technology innovation project. The Fourth Plenary Session of the 12th Provincial Party Committee further included it into the five "landmark projects of scientific and technological innovation highlands". At the meeting, the establishment of a special class for national major scientific installations was announced to provide a more scientific and comprehensive forward-looking planning and systematic layout for the test platform to apply for national major scientific installations.
The large aircraft ground dynamics test platform is a major scientific and technological infrastructure that simulates the ground dynamics characteristics of aircraft. After completion, it will have two sets of test platforms: a slide rail bench system and a vehicle-mounted bench system. It will become an international test base after the NASA test base in the United States. It is the leading and only test platform in China that can test the high-speed dynamic characteristics and large side slip angle dynamic characteristics of various aircraft tires, wheel brake systems, include landing gear systems on various road surfaces.

The platform can provide measured data for domestic aircraft tires, wheel brakes, and landing gear system ground dynamics analysis. Breaking through the technical bottleneck of previous research methods that focused on mathematical modeling & dynamics analysis and lack of measured data, the platform will breaking the technical bottleneck of foreign research on this project. The monopoly of key technology experimental data fills the key technology gap in domestic aircraft tire wheel brake-landing gear ground dynamics. The test platform can provide necessary theoretical and technical support to enhance the system design, optimization, integrated testing, verification, and airborne system capability improvement of COMAC's large passenger aircraft models (C919, CR929, etc.), as well as other national aviation products and models. The experimental capabilities can also be extended to aerospace (space shuttle, aerospace aircraft), special vehicles and other fields. The successful launch of the large aircraft ground dynamics test marks that the test platform has entered the construction and operation periods.
